Our Design Philosophy

We advocate a user-focused web design process. What this means to us is designing sites that satisfy the needs of the user. The user is the most important component of any website. After all, without a user a website has no purpose.

In our view, the two most important issues which affect a user's perception of a website are accessibility and usability. Needless to say, there is a lot more to designing a website than what we have listed here, but we believe these issues are among the most important. We'd be more than willing to discuss with you how these issues fit in with your site and what it is trying to acheive.

Accessibility

Accessibility is all about opening up your site to all users, anywhere. It shouldn't matter if a user has a disability, is accessing your site from a mobile phone, or is stuck with an old browser due to company IT policies. The content of your site should be available to everybody.

If you make your site unreachable by some groups, then you are losing users. Every user on your site is a potential customer, so you need to make sure you aren't turning anyone away.

Usability

Usability is closely related to accessibility, but it involves making your site as user-friendly as possible. It has a strong focus on the way users interact with your site, and how easy it is for them to find what they are looking for.

Despite what some of the experts may lead you to believe, usability does not make good design all by itself, but it is true that good design needs good usability. Precisely what this means to you depends on your users, and what they need from your site.
